Maria’s Journey
Maria’s Journey

The dress Olivia-Maria was born — a custom design inspired by our bride Maria. From the very first message, Maria knew exactly what she wanted: a wedding dress with a variable length, created from our short dress Olivia. The result is a dress that shifts with the moment: playful and contemporary from the front, romantic and ceremonial from behind.

What began as Maria’s bespoke request has now become Olivia Maria, and a natural part of our Air of Becoming collection.

Where did your wedding take place?

Our wedding was at Quail Creek Resort in Hartselle, Alabama. We toured a number of venues before finding this one, and immediately connected with the owner, who made us feel so welcome and even said he’d love to see our wedding there! The space was perfect for our 150 guests — open, inviting, and it just felt right from the start.

What inspired your wedding style/theme?

My husband is a minimalist, and I’m a bit of a maximalist. We wanted our wedding to reflect both of our personalities — his love for clean black-and-white style, and my love for color and texture. We both gravitate toward things that feel sophisticated yet playful, so we incorporated touches like pearls, bows, and even “silly geese” motifs on our invitations. It felt like such a fun mix of us both.

How did you feel in your dress on the big day?

Finally wearing my dress was truly one of my favorite parts of the day! It was the first time anyone saw it in person, and it was so much fun to watch everyone’s reactions. I received endless compliments, and I genuinely felt like a princess. Beyond that, it was so comfortable — lightweight, easy to move in, and I never felt restricted or weighed down.

What was your favorite wedding moment?

One of the moments I’ll always treasure happened at the very end of the night. Most of our guests had gone, and as we started cleaning up, one of my bridesmaids asked the DJ to play So High School by Taylor Swift. My husband and I slow danced on an empty dance floor, just the two of us. It was the sweetest ending to the best day.

Do you have any sweet advice for future brides?

Have fun and let go of perfection! Nothing in life (or weddings) is flawless, and that’s okay. Be present, soak it all in, and allow others to help you. And don’t forget to drink lots of water! ;)
